Sid Hollister | 85

Sidney (Sid) Hollister is a writer and editor who found his way to the Bay Area after growing up on the East Coast. His love of San Francisco is very much intertwined with his love of cold water swimming, a passion he discovered through the Dolphin Club. He is a regular there. As a very friendly person, he has made many friends at the club. He loves his neighborhood, North Beach, his regular spots, and the people that work there and frequent these spots. These human connections is what “makes this city work,” in his view. About the remarkable feat of swimming daily in the Bay, he feels incredible doing it but after a near miss with hypothermia also says, “you have to respect the water.” He spent two formative years in France and you can find his recently published book about it, “Learning to Dance with French: a Memoir”, here.
