Esperanza Ye Wong | 84

Esperanza Ye Wong is spirited and grateful. She identifies as a Chinese-American woman from the Philippines who speaks six languages. She is quick to help others and fortunate to have many family members nearby to visit and spend time with, especially her sister with whom she is close. As her and her family members were moving to the area years ago, they found houses next to each other. Esperanza lives close to multiple siblings and her daughter (who interviewed her for this project). Her family moved to the US after facing discrimination in the Philippines where people of Chinese descent were not allowed to own businesses.
