Peter Veres | 82

Peter Veres is a longtime San Francisco resident. You can find a more complete bio of him on his own website. Briefly, he was born in London to Hungarian Jewish parents after his parents wanted to ensure their son had an English passport with the concerning rise of Naziism in Hungary. They survived the war, but came to New York in 1949, where he was raised. He is an artist and after several degrees in the field and an education masters, he came to California with his wife to teach and do art. They eventually settled in San Francisco in 1993 and are still here! He has an incredible portfolio of mosaics that were made for private and public installations, and has written books on topics in his field as well as about his family. He is also known, with his wife Ruth, as an amazing neighbor and friend to many in their neighborhood.
